Consistent Betting Is Repetitive

If your approach changes every week, you are not following a system.

The process should look nearly identical every day

Sustainable, research-driven betting is less exciting than most people imagine. Review qualifying plays, compare sportsbook lines, place appropriately sized wagers, and record results. Then repeat. There is no need to find a bet on every game, increase exposure because it is Sunday Night Football, or invent an additional wager because the previous slate went poorly.

Small advantages require consistency

At standard -110 odds, you need to win approximately 52.38% of your bets to break even before other costs. A bettor winning 55% has an expected ROI of approximately 5% on flat-staked bets at those odds. That is a meaningful advantage, but it does not mean every week will be profitable. Changing rules based on recent results may mean you no longer capture the advantage your research identified.

The routine is the strategy

The process should be the same whether the previous week finished up ten units or down ten units.

  1. Identify plays that meet predefined system criteria.
  2. Confirm the posted line and shop for the best available number on that side.
  3. Follow predetermined unit sizes and exposure limits.
  4. Record the result accurately.
  5. Review performance periodically using meaningful samples.

The takeaway

Consistency is necessary for accurately testing and executing a betting strategy. The objective is not constant action; it is repeatable, disciplined decision-making.
